Directions to The King’s Centre

By Car from M62 East

Exit Jct. 26 and take the fourth exit A58 Halifax.

Follow the lane markings on the road carefully. The journey time after leaving the M62 is approximately 20 minutes depending upon traffic conditions. After Hipperholme the A58 enters Halifax. After the first set of traffic lights within Halifax at Stump Cross the A58 bends sharply to the left followed by a long straight uphill section with Shibden Park on the left. At the top of this straight section the road bends to the right just after going under a bridge and on the left is a view of the whole of the centre of Halifax.

Follow the main road, A58, over the dual carriageway flyover (Burdock Way) and at the end of the flyover is a very large, traffic light controlled roundabout.

Take the A58 (Burdock Way) as it bypasses Halifax town centre. Continue along the A58 but be prepared to move into the righthand lane of the dual carriageway. When the speed limit changes from 40mph to 30mph keep in the righthand lane. The first set of traffic lights is pedestrian controlled. At the second set of traffic lights turn right onto Parkinson Lane on the green filter light. Turn right at the mini roundabout onto Francis Street. Calderdale College main building is on the RHS. At the next mini roundabout turn right along Hopwood Lane. Take the next right onto Park road.. The King’s Centre is at the end of the cul-de-sac.

Parking is free with a 2 hour maximum stay between 8.00am and 6.00pm No return within 2 hours. Parking is on one side of the road only.

By Car from M62 West

Exit Jct. 24 and proceed three quarters of the way round the roundabout at the end of the slip road following the signs for A629 Halifax/Huddersfield. Follow the dual carriageway to the traffic light controlled roundabout Take the second exit from the roundabout onto the A629 Halifax. This is a dual carriageway and has a speed limit of 50mph with three active speed cameras on the long descent into the Elland area. Follow the A629 into the centre of Halifax where the destination of the A629 changes to Keighley.

Just before the centre of Halifax the headquarters of what was once the Halifax Building Society is on the left. A few yards further on the A629 bear left at traffic lights next to the Victoria Theatre.

The next set of traffic lights, pedestrian controlled, is at Bull Green. Turn left, taking the first exit at the small roundabout. Be prepared to bear right onto Hopwood Lane, just after the next set of pedestrian controlled traffic lights, Proceed along Hopwood Lane under the Burdock Way bypass until the railings and trees of People’s Park are visible on the LHS. Turn Left along Park Road.  The King’s Centre is at the end of the cul-de-sac.

Parking is free with a 2 hour maximum stay between 8.00am and 6.00pm No return within 2 hours. Parking is on one side of the road only.

Train

From the Northwest.

Change at Preston for a Blackpool to York train, departing hourly. All these trains stop at Halifax.

From North Wales

Change trains at Chester. A train runs from Chester to Leeds via Halifax once an hour.

From Liverpool and Manchester

Travel from Liverpool Lime Street to Manchester Victoria. Change trains at Manchester Victoria. There are usually 2 trains per hour to Leeds or York via Halifax.

From London

There are many trains from London Kings Cross to Leeds. Change trains in Leeds and use a local train as indicated immediately below in ‘From Other Locations’. There is also a direct train service from London Kings Cross  to Bradford Interchange via Halifax run by Grand Central Rail.

From Other Locations.

There are many through trains from various parts of the UK to Leeds. From Leeds, trains leave for Halifax approximately 4 times an hour.

Hebden Bridge

From Halifax Railway Station
Taxis are available from Halifax railway station..

Walking. It takes about 18 minutes at an average pace since the journey is uphill all the way.

By Bus

Halifax Bus station is currently being rebuilt therefore catch a bus departing from George Square/George Street in the centre of town. The following buses stop close to The King’s Centre
